Synopsis
Masashi is a young photographer who never stops dreaming. His family is traditional, consisting of an affable father, an enthusiastic mother, and an older brother who is jealous of his younger brother’s energetic optimism. When the terrible earthquake that preceded the Fukushima tragedy hits Japan, Masashi gathers his family to carry out the most important work of his life.
Director
Ryota Nakano (Kyoto, 1979). Throughout his career he has been recognized for his ability to observe interpersonal relationships and what people’s feelings. He has received several awards throughout his career and has presented his work at festivals such as the Berlinale (Capturing Dad, 2012), receiving nominations, among others, for the Japanese Academy Awards (Her Love Boils Bathwater, 2016). The Asadas is his latest film, and it premiered in Busan and Warsaw.
