Leonor Reyes is an important figure in Philippine cinema, a director and screenwriter, who is now retired. She leads an austere life where she can barely pay her household bills. Her son, Rudy, tries to reason with her so that she will stop withdrawing from reality. But Leonor spends her days watching her old films or buying new action movies and throwing money away. One day a television set falls on her head, leaving her in a coma, in which state she will continue to dream.
Martika Ramirez Escobar is a filmmaker based in Manila. Much of her work reflects her personal relationship with film. She has had a short but intense career so far, winning awards at several international festivals. She is known for Pusong bato (2014), Living Things (2020) and her latest work Leonor Will Never Die (2022), which is striking for the fantastic nature of the images.
