SYNOPSIS

One of Hong Kong’s most distinguished filmmakers, Ann Hui has been making films for over forty years. Award-winning production designer and art director Man Lim-chung, who has been collaborating with Hui since 2002 with July Rhapsody, delves into the life of the celebrated filmmaker with this revealing documentary. The film was shot over three years and traces the filmmaker’s biography, taking into account the ups and downs she has experienced over the course of her career. To achieve her goal she has drawn on footage, lengthy conversations with Hui, interviews with her collaborators, friends and family, and unique material drawn from the sets of The Golden Era (2014) and Our Time Will Come (2017).

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY

Man Lim-chung graduated from the School of Design of Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1991 and began his career in the film industry as an art director. He has worked with director Ann Hui in several films, such as The Golden Era (2014) and Our Time Will Come (2017), which won him the Best Costume & Make Up Design and Best Art Direction awards respectively at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Keep Rolling is his directing debut.
