SYNOPSIS

Yuko is a documentary filmmaker who works during the day at her father’s school, where she befriends a troubled student, Mei. For her documentary, Yuko attempts to unearth the truth of a sensational bullying case by interviewing family members of the high school student and a teacher suspected of a love affair. While carrying the immense emotional burden as a conduit and mediator between the tortured parties and their truths, Yuko also must struggle with her own conscience after a shocking discovery about her father.

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY

Yujiro Harumoto’s first feature film, Going the Distance (2016), which he produced, wrote, edited and directed, was screened at international festivals and had a commercial release in Japan. A Balance, his second feature film, was selected for festivals such as Tokyo Filmex and Busan.
