Director: Aimi Natsuto
On a Spring Day, Sayaka, a college student, Yui, for whom Sayaka feels secretly attracted, and Yui’s best friend, Momoko, decide to go on a day out to a holiday villa by the beach in Shonan. The film focuses on these three girls, showing how their relationships come and go. Nonetheless, they are not alone in the villa. The film intertwines the friends’ paths with the lives of other characters, such as the musician Akihiro, two exchange students from Korea, and a Thai poet. Thus, the movie weaves different storylines that focus on female sexuality, desire, and the course of life, among others.
Natsuto Aimi has written, directed, co-produced and edited Jeux de Plage, the first feature film by this director who made her name as an actress in Tayuka Misawa’s Chigasaku story (2015), and as sound manager in Kiki Sujino’s Yukionna (2017). The cast shows her knowledge of the medium by featuring well-known actors and actresses such as Haruna Hori (Shoplifters), Shinsuke Sato (Samurai Marathon), Juri Fukushima (I Want To Be Loved), and Donsaron Kovitanitcha, who was an AFFBCN juror in 2019.
