SYNOPSIS

When the school captain Ellie falls in love with Abbie, her rebellious classmate, the teenager’s insecurity stands between desire and rejection as she imagines what can suppose to invite her to the prom. Things, however, get even more complicated with the reappearance of Ellie’s aunt after her death as a “fairy godmother,” and she continues to think about how to make her feelings as well as her everyday life compatible.

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY

Monica Zanetti is a highly awarded writer and director. Her first feature film, Skin Deep, competed in more than eight international festivals and was awarded as the best fiction film at the Austin Film Festival. She also wrote and directed the series Tonightly with Tom Ballard, and wrote an episode of the serie My Life is Murder. Her second feature film, Ellie & Abbie (& Ellie’s Dead Aunt) was the first Australian film to open the latest edition of the Sydney Mardi Gras Film Festival.
