The film is loosely based on the true story of gruesome murder of a former Malaysian politician, Datuk Mazlan Idris, by Mona Fandey in 1993. It is a tale about the lure of riches, power, eternal youth, beauty and the blood one must spill to achieve this. “Dukun” centers on a conflicted lawyer, Karim, who is searching for his lost child, Nadia. His desperation leads him to be entangled with an alleged murderer, Diana Dahlan, who links the disappearance of Nadia to darker secrets that could cause Karim to lose everything. The film has been presented at the Sitges Film Festival 2018.

Writer and director Dain Iskandar Said (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) graduated in Film and Photography from the University of Westminster in London in 1990. After graduating he worked on several short films, television programs, commercials, media installations and documentaries. He directed his first feature film “Dukun”, was filmed in 2006, but it faced a ban and it was not released until 2018.
