“Agam” is a film based on three stories, “Yatra”, “Manikarnika” and “Deh-Tantra”, set in the backdrop of Banaras region, and the cities of Shiy, Shay and Occult. It explores how the lives of three people get entwined. “Yatra” is the story of a journey of a traveler who moves ahead in his quest of knowledge and truth having broken the shackles of the Hindu monastery “God head and the Math”. “Manikarnika” is the story of a newlywed bride who tries to cope with the foul stench and sights of his new house’s funeral pyres. And finally “Deh-Tantra” is the story of uncontrived love, an attraction between a man and woman which goes deep into the psychology of the masculine and feminine. The film has been presented at the Cairo International Film Festival 2017, the Dhaka International Film Festival 2018 and the Zanzibar International Film Festival 2017.

Sumit Mishra is a painter, art director and filmmaker. After dabbling with painting, literature and above all art direction on the big screen as well as the small screen arena, he has now wielded the megaphone as writer and director for works such as “Amrita and I“, which has won numerous awards and accolades. His last work, “Agam”, is an ambitious project depicting 3 different aspects of the culture of Banaras.
