Living by a river, Moc is a rural river fisherman in Vietnam raising his son Ca in harmony with the land. Ca has a little yellow chick for a friend and enjoys running after airplanes in the sky everyday, calling them birds from the city. And both of them make their living by fishing every day. One day, Ca contracts a serious illness. In order to seek treatment, Moc and his son must make the harrowing journey to the city. The film was presented at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival 2017 and the Indian International Film Festival 2017. And it won the award to the Best Asian Film at the Fajr Film Festival 2018 and Best Screenplay at the Vietnam Film Festival 2017.

Dung Luong Dinh is a director, producer and writer graduated from Master of Art of Cinematography at Hanoi Academy of Movie and Theatre. His short film “The Boatman” won the Excellent Film Award at 29thTokyo International Film Festival (2007) and his short film “Red Happiness” won the Merit Award given by Vietnam Cinema Association. “Father and Son” is his first feature film.
