Sue is a girl who lives in a small village in Chantaburi province, Thailand. She gets a scholarship to study in Finland, but when the time comes, she has all sorts of doubts about her destiny. Her friend Belle, on the other hand, doesn’t plan to leave the village, but helps her make the preparations before she leaves. We can see them both on their motorbikes around town to go and say goodbye to friends and family, although Sue keeps questioning her decisions and everything around her.

Kongdej Jaturanrasamee studied Mass Communication (with a major in Film and Video) at Lat Krabang University. After graduating he ended up teaching at Assumption University. In 2002 he directed his first film, Sayew, which won a special mention at the Seattle Film Festival. With Where We Belong, he tries to show the lives of many young girls in Thailand, for whom friends, family, commitments, dreams and love become shackles that oppress them and let them be what they want to be.
