After the earthquake that struck Nepal in 2015, Palden no longer finds it meaningful to continue living in what to him seems a godforsaken country, so he sets off on a journey to the Middle East. Before setting off, Palden will have to take an inner journey that involves visiting his sister, attending his father’s funeral, accompanying his mother on a pilgrimage, and reconnecting emotionally with Keshang, whom he once almost married. This inner journey will help him understand that more than fleeing the country he was seeking a way to escape from himself and his fear of death, and only then will he achieve peace.

Prabin Syangbo studied Screenwriting and Film Direction at the Oscar Film College. In the Nepalese film industry he is known for the complexity of his characters in which he explores different aspects of human emotions. His first production ADHAYA, in which he showed the paradoxes of love through three stories, was critically acclaimed. Katha ’72 reproduces the story of Syangbo in which she seeks not only to recall a historical event, but also how the proximity of death can make us reflect on the relationship we have with our loved ones.
