Hava, Maryam, Aesha

The protagonists of this film are three Afghan women of different social status, who become pregnant. Hava belongs to a traditional family and lives with her father and stepmother. All she cares about is the child she is carrying. Maryam is a successful journalist who is about to divorce an unfaithful husband when she finds out she is pregnant. And Ayesha a 18-yearl-old who becomes pregnant by a boyfriend who disappears, agrees to marry her cousin.

Sahraa Karimi belongs to the second generation of Afghan refugees in Iran. At the age of 15 she acted in two Iranian films and studied filmmaking in Slovakia, gaining a PhD in directing. She has directed more than 30 short films and several documentaries. She now lives in Kabul and Hava, Maryam and Aesha is her first feature film. Her intention is to give a voice to the women of her country who are fighting to change their destiny.
