This is the story of Xian Xinghai, one of China’s most famous composers. In 1941, during WWII, Xian is in Almaty and wants to return to his homeland, but his plans are cut short when the Soviet Union and Germany break the non-aggression pact signed in 1939. In Almaty he will have to face poverty and disease. However, despite not knowing his real identity, as Xian used a pseudonym, the Kazakh composer Bakhitzhan Baykadamov will lend him a hand by offering him a roof over his head. It is then that Xian will compose his most famous works.
