Synopsis
Shenyang is a decaying city, located in northwest China. Xu Lingling is a young 25-year-old suffering from uremia and whose life collapses when she starts dialysis and her health becomes fragile. At the height of her illness, her father returns to take care of her with her best friend Tan Na and her old classmate Zhao Dongyang. But, everything changes and it is not easy for her to adapt to her new reality.
Director
Director, screenwriter and actor, Liang Ming (Yichun, China. 1984) has intervened as a performer in films like Chun feng chen zui de ye wan / Spring Fever (Lou Ye, 2009), Gui ri zi / Shadow Days (Zhado Dayong, 2014) or Yong an zhen shi ji / Ripples of Life (Shujun Wei, 2021). His first full-length film as a director, Ri guang zhi xia / Wisdom Tooth (2020) received a Fermu Award to the best director in Pingyao Festival and the award to the Shanghai Critics Association to the best director, among other awards. This film was shown in Asian Film Festival 2020 and in Rotterdam, Gothenburg, and Shanghai’s contests. In Xiao yao you/Carefree Days, his second full-length film, adapts the homonymous novel by Ban Yu.
