Synopsis
Throughout the four seasons in northern New Zealand, Billbird tells the story of Ross, a farmer of few words who tries to overcome the sudden loss of his wife, Beth. His will to live has gone with her and his relationship with his son Bruce has always been distant. However, the intervention of a local boy like Bob, the vet Clem and Bruce’s boss help to make things better. Even so, a year after Beth’s death, Ross will still be trying to get over the grief. It’s a story about love, loss, and hope.
Director’s Biography
Hamish Bennett is a New Zealand filmmaker of Maori descent. His first short film, The Dump, won Best Screenplay at the NZ Writers Guild Award in 2012. Bellbird is his first feature film and he shot it in the city where he grew up.
