Synopsis
Xinyuan films in her personal essay film Jet Lag is her trip from Vienna to China. A quarantine and leisure diary that draws lines between Graz, China and Myanmar, as well as love, family and politics. In the documentary she shows us the hazmat suits on the airplane and the layers of tape sealing off each room in the quarantine hotel, which conjure up images of crime scenes or medical thrillers, although once she does gymnastics on the bed, the mood immediately shifts.
Director
Xinyuan Zheng Lu is a filmmaker based in Hangzhou, China. She graduated from School of Cinematic Arts, USC with a Film Production MFA in 2017. Her short films were selected to screen at festivals such as Tribeca Film Festival, First Xining International Film Festival, Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture and China Independent Film Festival.
