Synopsis
It’s the summer of 1999 in blue-collar Melbourne and school is out forever. 17-year-old Serbian immigrant Kol is preparing for the Australian Dance finals when he receives a distress call from his dance partner Ebony who has woken up on a beach, in an unfamiliar town after a big night out. With the help of Ebony’s older brother Adam, they attempt to make it to the finals on time but when Kol and Adam get stuck in summer traffic on the way to collect Ebony, they discover they have more in common than expected, and over the course of the next 24 hours an unexpected and intense romance blossoms between the both of them. A decade later the pair meet for a bittersweet reunion.
Director
Goran Stolevski is an Australian Macedonian film director and screenwriter. He completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts at the University of Melbourne and a Master program in Film and Television at the Victorian College of the Arts. He made his feature directorial debut with You Won’t Be Alone (2022), which premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. His second feature, Of an Age (2022), won the Best Film Award at CinefestOZ in 2022. His third project, Housekeeping for Beginners (2023) was selected as the Macedonian entry for Best International Film at the 2024 Academy Awards.
