Synopsis

Tama New Town is a residential area to the west of Tokyo, built in the mid-1960s at a time when housing costs in the Japanese capital were exploding. Multi-storey apartment blocks, green parks and communal public spaces bear witness to a social vision that is now history. The story follows three women over the course of a day around Tama New Town. It revolves around the everyday: appointments at the job centre, bus rides, cycling, the pleasure of seeing early summer blossoms in the park, or the ever-changing perspectives of utilitarian architecture. The three protagonists occasionally cross paths, until the precious memory of one of them echoes in the life of the other.
