Rasoulof has faced multiple arrests and confiscation of his passport due to the critical nature of his films towards the Iranian government.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2024, after his film\u00a0<strong>The Seed of the Sacred Fig<\/strong>\u00a0was selected for the Cannes Film Festival, he was sentenced by the Islamic Republic of Iran to 8 years in prison, lashes and a fine, and subsequently took refuge in Germany.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"614\" data-end=\"639\"><strong data-start=\"618\" data-end=\"637\">The Seed of the Sacred Fig<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"782\">At a time of political instability, Iman, an investigating judge in Tehran\u2019s Revolutionary Court, mysteriously loses his gun.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"782\">What could be an everyday occurrence ends up unleashing fear and paranoia in the judge, who ends up suspecting even his own family: his wife Najmeh and daughters Rezvan and Sana.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"782\">He imposes drastic measures at home, causing tensions to rise.
