NEW PERSPECTIVES OF ASIAN CINEMA

From April 18th to June 20th of 2026

The proposal we present for this second quarter of the year at Cine Paz MK2 comprises ten titles, four of which, Victoria, Aalav, Full Plate and Shadowbox, coincide with the most recent cinema arriving from India. These films are part of the IndiaIndie showcase, produced by Casa de la India and curated by Bina Paul, which places special emphasis on the most independent auteur cinema, in both Hindi and other regional languages of India. In contrast to the Bollywood industry, the most popular and influential cinematographic genre in India and for which this country’s cinema has been most known, for her it is important to provide not only a new image of the country taking into account existing cultural and social diversity, but also the new trends perceived in different languages and genres. To the four aforementioned titles are added the six remaining ones in the program, from Australia (The Aegean), China (Karst), Philippines (Co-Love), Iran (Summertime), Japan (Ishiro Honda: Memoirs of a Film Director) and Kazakhstan (Longer Than a Day), whose selection responds to the interest in their particular narratives.
