Synopsis
Tarlan, a retired dance teacher, witnesses the murder of her friend at the hands of her husband, a high-ranking government figure. When the police refuse to investigate, Tarlan must decide whether to yield to political pressure or risk her reputation and livelihood in the name of justice.
Director
Nader Saeivar (1975) is an Iranian writer and director. Holding a Master’s degree from the University of Tehran, he teaches film at various institutes and universities. He began his career as a director in 1992 and has experience working in both film and television, establishing himself as a prominent figure in contemporary Iranian cinema. He won the Best Screenplay award at Cannes for 3 Faces (2018), alongside Jafar Panahi. His most recent work, The Witness (2025), received the Audience Award at the 81st Venice Film Festival.
