Synopsis

Middle-school student Sosuke finds life easy, energised by the joy of creating. He lives in a seaside town with long-term residents of all ages and genders, that has recently started attracting artists drawn by a project in the area. Odd incidents occur, naive adults meet cunning children and the sea and sky shimmer in the light. While the children are inexhaustible in their attempts to solve the tasks before them, the adults repeatedly try to figure out their own existence. A collection of vignettes from an unforgettable summer where every character is lovable and filled with a tenderness that touches the heart.

Director

Yokohama Satoko (1978) is a Japanese film director and screenwriter born and raised in the Aomori Prefecture. She graduated from a university in Yokohama and later attended The Film School of Tokyo, where her graduation short film won a major award. She made her feature debut with German Plus Rain (2007), followed by her commercial debut Bare Essence of Life (2009). Her notable works include The Actor (2015), Ito (2021), and Seaside Serendipity (2025), the last of which received a Special Mention at the Berlinale 2025.
