Synopsis
Pinjar is an evocative meditation on captivity—of bodies, of spirits, of choices-unfolding through the entangled lives of five individuals and a wild bird. Tarak is a weary bird-catcher. His daughter Jhimli, fierce yet fragile, comes of age in a world that clips her wings before she can skirt them. Paromita, a widowed teacher dulled by duty, hides her loneliness behind routine. Shefali, a working wife, conceals her bruises beneath concealer and silence. And lIqbal, a migrant Muslim man, drifts through a city that never truly welcomes him. Threading through their lives is a vibrant, feral bird—stolen from the forest, peddled in markets, caged in home. Its voiceless unrest becomes a searing emblem of the human condition. Set between the serenity of the rural and the noise of the urban, the movie listens closely to what’s unspoken: the hush of grief, the rustle of defiance, the yearning to break free, emerging as a haunting elegy for stolen freedoms—and a tender, urgent call to let all that is caged, fly.
