Synopsis
Mouni is a puritanical frustrated actress who hates Mumbai. It is her deepest dream to move abroad to any part of Europe and act there. She ends up at an online audition with Adnan, a 55 year old Kashmiri Muslim man, who’s now a retired banker living in Frankfurt, Germany. Adnan is depressed and having just retired he’s desperately seeking a new sense of self. After the audition and, shocked with the power of acting, he begs her to teach him. This sets off a day long acting class between two countries and two very different people over a long video call. It unravels their pasts, their fears, their pains and joys and leaves them changed.
Director
Aditya Kripalani (1981) is an Indian is a writer, director, and producer based in Frankfurt, Germany. A graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India’s Script Writing program, he worked with prominent directors before moving into teaching and creative direction in advertising. He made his directorial debut with Tikli and Laxmi Bomb (2017). His subsequent features include Tottaa Pataaka Item Maal (2018), Devi Aur Hero (2019) and Not Today (2021), honored with the FIPRESCI Critics Award at the Bengaluru International Film Festival. His newest film, I’m Not an Actor (2024), was projected in the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF), In addition to his filmmaking, Kripalani has published several novels and worked as a creative director in advertising across Asia.
