Synopsis
Johan is a young man who lives with his overprotective mother on a crocodile farm in West Java, Indonesia. The farm is at the centre of their lives — the crocodiles keep them busy, and the work isolates them from the rest of the world. But the fraught balance of their day-to-day routine is turned upside down when a young woman enters Johan’s life.
Director
Tumpal Tampubolon (1979) is an Indonesian film director, screenwriter, and actor, based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Since 2005, he has written and directed numerous short films, several of which were screened in various domestic and international film festivals. In 2009, he was selected to attend the Berlinale Talents in Berlin. Crocodile Tears (2024) is his feature film debut. The film received international acclaim and was nominated in the BFI London Film Festival, the Indonesian Film Festival and the Film Pilihan Tempo.
