WHAT IS BEYOND BOLLYWOOD?
Beyond Bollywood is a free filmmaking workshop organized by ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya) and SA Studios@Nupura. Explore the wealth and diversity of South Asian cinema beyond conventional commercial models.
Designed as a creative and educational space, the workshop brings together people from different cultural backgrounds to learn about film, share perspectives, and create original short films inspired by the cinemas of South Asia and the multicultural life of Barcelona.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?
Barcelona is a multicultural city, but much of that diversity is rarely reflected in the local film scene. Beyond Bollywood creates a space for underrepresented voices to access film education and share their perspectives and stories through film.
By offering free access to audiovisual training and fostering collaboration between Spain and South Asia, the workshop builds cultural bridges through storytelling and audiovisual creation.

Ben Hopkins
Internationally acclaimed screenwriter and filmmaker. His films combine fiction and documentary with a very distinct personal and political voice.
Tanvi Gandhi
Producer. Recognized as “one of the most powerful women in Bollywood” by Elle magazine.
Jaume Martí
Award-winning film editor with experience in major international productions, including The Snow Society.
Shreyashee Nag
Dancer and choreographer, specializing in traditional Indian dances. Founder of Espai Nupura.
CREATOR & CONDUCTOR
Aditya Bhattacharya
Aditya Bhattacharya is a filmmaker and screenwriter from one of the most influential families in Indian cinema. His work and teaching focus on the history of South Asian cinema, independent cinema, and narratives that go beyond the dominant commercial cinema.
Following the success of Another Barcelona, his pioneering film workshop in Barcelona focused on South Asian communities, he and his team created Beyond Bollywood.In this new program, Aditya brings together prominent voices from India and Europe to create a space for new stories, emerging filmmakers, and diverse cinematic perspectives.
