Synopsis
Wendy Bednarz’s debut feature film, Yellow Bus, tells the heartbreaking story of Ananda and Gagan, a couple who emigrate from India to a city on the Arabian Gulf in search of a better future for their family. One morning, Ananda discovers that her youngest daughter has been left behind on the school bus and has died of suffocation from the heat. Devastated and armed with her daughter’s ashes, Ananda decides to stand up to the “invisible caste” of society that tries to silence her tragedy with “blood money”, and fight for justice, refusing the financial compensation offered to her for her daughter’s death.
