Synopsis
Time Still Turns the Pages (2023), tells the story of Cheng (Wong Chi Lok), a high school teacher who must cope with the death of his father and the divorce of his wife. Life takes an unexpected turn when he finds an anonymous suicide note in the classroom where he teaches. This reminds him of a childhood in which he witnessed his father’s constant abuse of his mother and brother. Determined to act, Cheng strives to prevent another tragedy. In fact, he believes that Hong Kong’s education system should balance competitiveness and the emotional well-being of students to achieve all-round human development.
Director
Nick Cheuk is a filmmaker, who was previously a screenwriter on projects such as Zombiology: Enjoy Yourself Tonight (2017) and Paradox (2017). In television, Cheuk gained experience as a director with the series Affairs of The Heart (2016), where he demonstrated his ability to work in this format. His film debut has taken place with Time Still Turns the Pages (2023), a great film where the director tackles teenage suicide and the possible causes that lead his protagonists to consummate it.
