Synopsis
Laela and Colin, former high school sweethearts, unexpectedly reunite in Los Angeles twenty-three years after being separated during the 1998 Jakarta riots, where they were unable to say goodbye and were sent to different countries. Upon seeing each other again, the temptation for both parties to reconnect with their soulmates is overwhelming, despite Laela’s looming deadline and Colin’s upcoming move to Pennsylvania. As the star-crossed lovers examine the decisions that led them apart and back again, Laela and Colin must decide if they are still in love.
Director
Sebastien Tobler is a Filipino-Swiss writer and director whose narrative reflects his multicultural and mixed-race heritage, as well as the constant lack of rootedness that comes from growing up in seven different countries. He began his career making small travel documentaries and music videos, and eventually pursued his own narrative projects as a writer and director. His feature film debut as a writer and director, This Time, premiered at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.
