Synopsis

Sweet As (2022) tells the story of Murra, a 16-year-old indigenous teenager who yearns to escape from an environment ravaged by drug addiction and violence. Murra’s mother fights her own demons and the consequences of drug addiction. But, immersed in her own personal battles, she has left Murra in a situation of deep desolation. After a conflict between the two, her life takes an unexpected turn when her uncle Ian, a local police officer, offers her an opportunity for change. From an improvised journey, the protagonist meets a group of young people in the same situation of social exclusion, and the rediscovery of her country allows her to find in photography the vehicle of expression on which her peace and ability to overcome difficulties depend.
