Synopsis
Song of The South (2023) is based on the novel of the same name written by author Doan Gioi. The story is set in the confines of the ancient geographical and historical region of Cochinchina, specifically when the French colonial denomination ends in Vietnam. The plot stars a lost 12-year-old boy named An, who experiences various adventures and tragedies along the perilous journey he undertakes in search of his father.
Director
Quang Dung Nguyen is a prominent Vietnamese director and screenwriter, son of the famous writer Nguyen Quang Sang. A graduate of Ho Chi Minh City University of Film and Theater in 1999, he directed his first film, Con Ga Trong, adapted from a short story by his father. He also composed the soundtrack for Nhung Co Gai Chan Dai. The cultural environment that surrounded him since childhood has been present throughout his career and continues to be seen in Song of the South (2023), his latest film.
