Synopsis
As a result of mutual sacrifice, the couple Sun-Woo and Hee-Suh manage to buy a small apartment in the city center. Once settled, Sun-Woo loses his job and injures his leg, while Hee-Suh is severely affected by the responsibility of paying the mortgage and carrying the household chores. A striking smell runs through the halls of the building until it reaches the confines of the couple’s abode. The progressive stench only increases Sun-Woo’s persistence in tracking down its source. The atmosphere becomes increasingly oppressive, bringing the couple’s stress level to a fever pitch. The building’s facilities, silent witnesses to the different events, remain unchanged, in contrast to the growing tension that pushes the story to a suspenseful conclusion.
