Synopsis

After September 11, 2001, the United States occupied Afghanistan to eliminate Al-Qaeda and overthrow the Taliban regime, accused of harboring those responsible for the attack. Ibrahim Nash’at presents a new narrative from the north american withdrawal in 2021, exploring the abandoned facilities of the CIA base known as Hollywood Gate (2023). The film documents the Taliban’s return to power. Focusing on Malawi Mansour, head of the Afghan air force, documentarian Ibrahim Nash’at captures the danger and paranoia following the departure of US soldiers, as the Taliban attempt to manage the country in a context of uncertainty and persistent conflict.
