Synopsis
In a nearly deserted village, the only witnesses to its former bustle are the abandoned dogs. After his involvement in a murder, Lang returns to the village and joins the search for a black dog that the villagers believe to be rabid and want to eliminate. During an unexpected seven-day cohabitation with the animal, Lang rediscovers his environment and the new possibilities it offers him as he rides through the place on his motorcycle with sidecar, with the twilight as a backdrop.
Director
Guan Hu (1967, Beijing, China) graduated from the Beijing Film Academy in 1991. He is a leading director and screenwriter of the sixth generation of Chinese filmmakers. His debut, Dirt (1994), gained him attention for its raw style. He has directed such hits as Mr. Six (2015) and The Eight Hundred (2020). Known for his social realism, Guan Hu is an influential figure in contemporary Chinese cinema and the film we propose to show Black Dog (2024) is his most recent work.
