Synopsis
This documentary presents an intergenerational dialogue between the survivors of a genocide and the generation that has followed them, tracing the effects and stories of the Jeju genocide (1948, South Korea) and the Rwandan genocide (1994, Rwanda). The personal stories of the survivors reveal both synchronicities and discrepancies between the two massacres. However, it is inevitable that silence prevails as a sign of respect and empathy for the voices that make up this audiovisual testimony. The documentary claims above all historical memory as the only common palliative for the wounds caused by crimes against humanity.
Director
Hoon Koh is a South Korean director and screenwriter best known for his work on the film Paper Flower (2019), which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival. In the same direction, he has directed other films that explore deep and moving themes such as Holy Punch (2024) and Eomung (2019). With April Tragedy (2023), with the virtuosity and social commitment that characterize Koh.
