I WORLD CINEMA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE – Cinema of India (WOCICO 2021)

CASA ASIA collaborates with the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) forming a part of the Organising Committee and the Advisory Board of the I World Cinema International Conference dedicated to Indian Cinema, which will be celebrated ONLINE, from Tuesday, 15th of June to Wednesday, 16th of June 2021.

 

Languages: English and Spanish (Majority of the participants will be presenting in English, which therefore will also be the principal language of the Congress)

The objective of this international congress is to create a space of academic discussion about cinema in its different forms, likewise about its similar narratives, like television series. This edition is dedicated to Indian cinema.

The congress is directed especially towards researchers, professors, professionals and Master and PhD students interested in disseminating and sharing their contribution. All kinds of academic perspectives are accepted without any restrictions concerning the topics and contents as well as the formal aspects of the presentation and the evaluation.

This first edition is dedicated to Indian cinema, one of the most important cinematographic industries of the world, which is, nevertheless, less known in some of the regions of the globe. It deals with an industry with a great cultural and social variety that spans, in addition to the Bollywood cinema, the most popular to the cinematographic productions typically that of independent and experimental cinema that does not lack from a notable economic impact.

The director of the Congress is Jaime López Díez, professor of the Complutense University of Madrid, who has organized this event with the research group GECA (Género, Estética y Cultura Audiovisual) to which he belongs, and the collaboration of the Department of Applied Communication Sciences of UCM, the Institute of Indology, the Embassy of India in Spain, Casa de la India, Casa Asia and the Asian Film Festival Barcelona.
